TeamViewer® Untapes Backup for Businesses
airbackup Allows for Fast, Easy and Secure Backup in the Cloud
Göppingen, Germany, March 20, 2014 – TeamViewer®, one of the world’s most popular providers of remote control and online meeting software, today announced an extension to its product portfolio: airbackup, a cloud-based backup solution, specifically tailored towards the needs of Small and Medium Sized Business (SMB). The new product supports organizations with safeguarding their business’ critical data without the use of on-premise tape backup. The superior BackupBoost™ technology for maximum compression makes airbackup considerably faster than competitive products. Additionally, airbackup excels at safety and ease of use while enabling far reaching backup automation. airbackup can be downloaded at www.airbackup.com
airbackup comes with maximum security, which exceeds the safety level SMBs tend to apply when storing their data on-premise: The 256 bit AES encryption works with a private key users generate during the set-up process to ensure that the data is protected from unauthorized access at any time. All data is locally encrypted before the data transfer so that no one, not even the airbackup support professionals, can access it.
Nearly all organizations around the world recognize the value of their data. However, when it comes to protecting this asset, many SMBs are still struggling to find the right solution. Mandatory requirements include a quick and safe backup with no interference on daily business operations. airbackup was designed to address these issues. It provides users with the comfort of a dependable restore from anywhere at any time. Furthermore, as a cloud-based system, airbackup mitigates the risk of losing data from local breakdowns or natural catastrophes.
“We felt that the data backup market left quite a number of questions unanswered which is why we designed airbackup”, comments Holger Felgner, General Manager at TeamViewer. “airbackup supports organizations in setting up a viable business continuity and disaster recovery strategy, while relieving their IT budgets considerably. With our BackupBoost™ technology airbackup users can benefit from the typical cloud advantages while performing targeted backups which do not interfere with their daily operations.”
After downloading the airbackup Client, users set up their backup routine and determine the reports they want to receive. By the help of the complementary web based airbackup Manager, organizations can centrally control their backed up devices and group them according to their needs.
Prior to each backup, airbackup compresses the data to a minimum of its original size and identifies duplicate data blocks. This provides for less data and allows for a smoother transfer to the cloud. Within milliseconds, airbackup recognizes the data that has been modified since the last backup so that only the altered data blocks will be transferred.
The airbackup data center, located in Düsseldorf, Germany, meets the data protection laws of the European Union including:
- Quality Management: ISO 9001:2008
- Information Security certification: ISO/IEC 27001:2005
- Data Center Security: ISO/IEC 27001:2005
- Environmental Management: ISO 14001:2004
- Energy Management: ISO 50001:2011
- Occupational Health & Safety Management: OHSAS 18001: 2007
